B2B
Business-to-Business. Typically wholesalers, manufacturers, and other suppliers. Businesses that focus their sales toward other businesses, rather than to individual consumers.

B2C
Business-to-Consumer. Retailers whose primary sales focus is to consumers or the public, rather than to other businesses, even though a B2C business might sell to discounters.

B2G
Business-to-Government. Businesses that have government agencies on a metropolitan, county, state, or federal level as their primary consumers.

Benchmark
A management tool used to determine whether a company's organizational processes and activities represent the best practices. Benchmarking models are helpful to assess how well a business unit, division, organization, or corporation is performing compared with other similar organizations.

Blog
Personal content publishing. A journal, published by a blogger (author) using such software as www.blogger.com. Blogs have become increasingly important to Human Resources, Public Relations, and Marketing departments to increase their company’s visibility, communicate with customers, and promote products or services.

Brainstorm
A creative group activity often used in business meetings to generate a plethora of new ideas for innovation and improvement. Group members are encouraged to put forward as many ideas as possible about a problem and how it can be solved, even if the concepts are not always usable.

Business/Corporate Ethics
A multitude of business philosophies that include utilitarianism (the best of all possible worlds), virtue ethics (communities and character) and deonotology (being good). The moral values held by a corporation that establish the behavioral aspects of how the company treats its employees, vendors, customers, and community.

Business Intelligence
BI is a popularized term introduced in 1998 by Howard Dresner of the Gartner Group to describe a set of concepts and methods to improve business decision making by using fact-based support systems. A management tool that uses data mining, knowledge management, data warehouse, and business analysis to categorize, track, and develop key processes and data, as well as identify and examine trends in corporate, competitor, and market performance. Smart business intelligence outlines bring together four forces that drive business operations: people, plans, processes, and performance.

Business Plan
A comprehensive written planning document describing the nature of the business, the industry, company objectives, management policies, sales and marketing strategy, and the financial background. Also contains a projected profit and loss statement. A blueprint that delineates the directions a business will use to improve its future.
