Electronic-commerce. Also known as e-biz or e-business. A broad term for conducting business transactions using electronic means such as the Internet, other computer networks, or wireless (mobile) transmissions.

Founder of a business who creates products or services to gain profit. A person who assumes the financial risks associated with the start-up, operation, and management of a business.

Environmental Scanning
The process of discovering up-and-coming trends and clues of change through research and assessment. Fundamental to the planning process to help locate new business opportunities. Searching the business, political, demographic, technological, economic, legal, or social environment for signals of change.

Exempt Employee
Employees who meet one of the FLSA (US Fair Labor Standards Act that governs overtime compensation.) exemption tests and who are paid on a fixed salary basis and not entitled to overtime.
