caustics
Light reflected off a shiny object, or light refracted through a transparent object, producing bright highlights on another object.

CGI (or CG)
Stands for computer graphics. Using computers to create or manipulate an image. CGI is Computer Generated Imagery.

channel
Sound is split into two channels when recorded in stereo, with one channel for the right speaker and the other for the left. Mono recording has one channel.

chapter
A section within a DVD that the viewer can instantly access by skipping forwards or backwards, similar to tracks on a compact disc/CD.

compositing
Creating images from multiple sources (i.e. video, photographs, 2D animation, 3D animation).

compression
Reducing a media file’s size in order to speed up transmission. Results in some quality loss, depending on the degree of compression.

content
The text and graphics material on a web page. Content is the substance, and is not the layout, design, or interactivity.
