callout
An explanatory label for an illustration, often drawn with a leader line pointing to a part of the illustration.

CMYK
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, the four-process color inks.

color correction
The preview image on the computer display is adjusted. Color correction is usually done in CMYK or RGB.

color separation
The process of creating separate negatives and plates for each color of ink (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) that will be used in the printing process.

color space
Color space is a particular way to describe color. Examples of color spaces include: RGB, CMYK, HSB, CIE LAB.

comp
A layout that has been mocked up to show how the different elements of the design will look when the job has been printed. This could range from a rough sketch, to a fully formatted digital layout or printed proof.

corporate identity
Whereas having a link with branding, corporate identity generally applies more specifically to the visual perceived image of a corporation, rather than to an individual product. The intent of a strong corporate identity is to promote this cohesive visual image, both within the company - as a corporate culture - and externally to clients and rivals as a strong visual corporate identity.
