Acid Etching
The process of producing a pattern on the surface of metal by protecting specific sections with a resist (e.g., rosin, asphaltum, wax) and submerging the primary design component into an acid solution.

Alloy
A blend of two or more dissimilar metals such as sterling silver mixed with copper or gold mixed with silver. Alloys can diminish the clarity or worth of the metal, making it less expensive. This is commonly done to improve the resulting alloy’s hardness, color or luster. Common alloys in jewelry are sterling silver, gold under 24 Kt, pewter, brass and bronze.

Amber
Made famous in the movie "Jurassic Park", amber is composed of fossil tree sap and is a remarkable stone that is cut, polished and used as a precious gemstone. It is, also, a fossil and can contain many sealed insects, as well as animal parts and plants that are millions of years old

Agate
A precious stone that is a lined version of chalcedony quartz or agate. It is formed in a multitude of layers in many colors and textures by filling-in its indentation or cavity in an additional rock.

Amulet
A trinket or jewel worn, especially around the neck, as a charm used against devilish evil or personal injury.

Antique Jewelry
In order to be considered "antique", this embellishment accessory must be at least 100 years old.
