operating expenses
The variety of direct and indirect expenses associated with day-to-day business operations: cost of buildings or rents, furniture and equipment, salaries, compensations costs, advertising, and taxes; the cost of running a business.

 

 

outlet
A retail discounter that is owned by the manufacturer or designer and established to sell its own merchandise in the store.

 

 

outsourcing
The process used by a retailer to pay an outside firm to perform internal corporate functions. May be used for one or more of the following reasons: save money; enhance quality; free the company's human resources to do other activities. Frequently starts with computer or accounting functions.
