Ruff
A starched item worn about the neck in from the mid-16th century to the mid-17th century in Western Europe. It became a separate, changeable garment, keeping the doublet’s necking from becoming soiled, and could be laundered and set into fancy figure-eight folds. Ruffs could be a foot or more wide, needing a wire frame to hold them up.

Romper Suit
Children´s rompers appeared in the 1910s as one of the first modern casual clothes specifically for children. They were light, loose-fitting, one-piece outfits with bloomer legs of various lengths and were primarily worn for play. Rompers were a major contrast to the restrictive clothing previously worn by children during the Victorian era. |
