Abstract
An idea that is expressed without specific reference to a recognizable or tangible thing.

Example: Abstract Expressionism is a school of painting that flourished after World War II.

 

 

Adjacency
The position and relationship of one element to another.

Example: In a department store, swimsuits are usually merchandised adjacent to cover-ups.

 

 

Autopole
A piece of visual equipment designed in the 1980s, which continues to be popular today because of its flexibility and relatively low cost.

Example: The autopole became useless when the trimmer misplaced all of the hardware.
