Face-Out
Front or face of garment visible to the customer or the piece of hardware used to show the front or face of a garment.

Example: To add interest and variety, it is best to merchandise a wall with a combination of face-out and side-hang.

 

 

Feature Presentation
Merchandise featured on mannequins, forms, or risers usually positioned at the end of an aisle or in a sight line.

Example: The feature presentation in the Dress Department was a grouping of three mannequins on a platform in the aisle intersection.

 

 

Flood
A light bulb that has a wide area of coverage.

Example: Amber floods will be used on the back wall to create a warm ambiance.

 

 

Focal Point
In any two-dimensional composition, the point to which your eye is automatically drawn first.

Example: The white pin-spot in a Tiffany’s window highlights the focal point of the presentation, which is usually the merchandise.

 

 

Four-Way
A metal floor fixture with four arms – one per side.

Example: The silk blouses were shown with their coordinating skirts on a four-way.
