Seasonal
A presentation that is appropriate or tied to a specific calendar event or holiday.

Example: Most fashion stores do not do Halloween as a seasonal window theme, but they always highlight Christmas.

 

 

Sight Line
A presentation area that is in the customer’s natural line of sight – usually at the end of an aisle or on a clipped corner.

Example: It is best to position a visual presentation in a sight line.

 

 

Slatwall
A wall hanging system of vertical strips of laminate (slats) into which special hooked hardware can be inserted to hang merchandise.

Example: The Gap relies heavily on the use of slatwall to present their merchandise.

 

 

Specialty Store
Smaller than a department store (usually less than 40,000 square feet), a specialty store sells a specific type of goods and caters to a more narrowly targeted market.

Example: J. Crew is a specialty store that sells casual clothing to middle to high income men and women.
