Why are you a strong supporter of FIDM?
After personally attending FIDM, I know that they are more than just a school; they are a family. I know how dynamic their programs are. FIDM is truly connected to the industry. They have an inside connection that only a few schools have. Best of all, FIDM provides all students and alumni special assistance and support.

What creative activities do you use to inspire your students to think outside the box?
Fashion is all about creativity. I like to use all sorts of different techniques to allow my students to use their imaginations. Prompt questions are a common technique I use to help students to think outside the box.
Fashion research projects, design challenges, group activities, and watching episodes of Project Runway are just a few others. The best motivator is the successful completion of a sewing project. Then they are ready for the next challenge.

Professionally speaking, what do you know for certain?
Kids are moody and unpredictable. Try not to take things they say or do personally and go with the flow. Who knows what’s going on in their lives? Allow them to make choices sometimes and don’t treat them like babies.
Most of all, always find something to laugh or smile about even when you don’t feel like it. It will make you feel better and create a pleasant learning environment.
