Describe your Fashion Club’s most successful activity or activities.
Two years ago some of the students wanted to put on a fashion show featuring their own designs; some of them were beginning sewers with no pattern making experience. I was not certain they could do it, but they did! Five designers created a unique theme. They held model castings, created a website, and planned the music, lighting, staging, advertising, and a panel of judges. They raised $1,100. The second, now annual, event took place last year. It was filmed and edited by other students.

Explain the benefits that your students derive from their FashionClub experience
How to be independent and go for it, working with others, and delegating responsibilities.

What advice would you give to a new FashionClub Advisor?
Let the students do the work. You are just there to advise and make sure they act professionally.

What is the secret of your FashionClub success?
It helps to have the students bring others into the club and up through the ranks; freshmen will someday become the seniors.

How do your FashionClub members inspire you?
When you let the students take over, it is amazing what they can do. You see them becoming adults and dealing with real life situations.

When the club meets after school, they have so much energy and great ideas which helps my motivation.
