Fashion Show Planning and Execution. "Students will learn that a career in fashion requires knowledge of the industry and the different careers that are available, environmental influences on fashion demand, fashion history and how it relates to today's fashions, effectiveness of analyzing a promotional merchandising plan or fashion show event, processes in selecting and merchandising apparel and accessory products, and budgeting and financing for resources and supplies needed.
"The major goals and objectives of the project is to provide training for students on the developmental process of planning fashion show events, promote professional business etiquette, prepare a marketing plan, use advanced technology in advertising and promotions, develop effective communication skills, build relationships with retail establishments, have exposure to other careers in the fashion industry, and assist local designers in the community in launching their apparel designs."
Why I would encourage other high school teachers to apply for a FIDM Connection Grant:
"I would encourage other high school teachers to apply for a FIDM Connection Grant because it benefits both the teacher and students in making an educational connection that will enhance their curriculum. The FIDM Connection Grant provides an opportunity for teachers to integrate other resources and teaching methods that are funded by the grant and increase student involvement and achievement in many specialized areas of study."

What winning the grant means to me, my students and my high school:
"Winning this grant means a great deal to me, my students, and my high school because it reinforces our mission ‘to empower all students to be competent, productive, and responsible citizens in a diverse global market place, promoting and supporting academic excellence and personal well being for all students.’ The FIDM grant will open many doors for students to gain exposure for academic reservoir and real-world experiences."

What I will share with my students about this experience:
"I will share with my students the importance of seeking every opportunity available in pursuing their goals and taking the necessary steps in executing that process, no matter how small or large it appears to be. I would also encourage the students to use their gifts and talents to help others because one of the most important gifts we have to offer is the desire and ability to make things happen that will not only benefit ourselves, but others as well."
