The Study Collection

The FIDM Museum Study Collection is a special collection of 1,500 hands-on objects spanning 200 years: couture and ready-to-wear garments, accessories, non-western dress, and textiles. The collection is available by appointment to the public, and is a major educational resource for students and researchers. Famed designer John Galliano, former Creative Director for the House of Dior, visited the collection to study garments from the 1930s for a couture collection.

You and your students can utilize this prime resource to examine up close the construction and design of the pieces, adding another dimension to your classroom studies. To make an appointment, please contact the museum’s curatorial office: 213.623.5821 x3367.
