Grant Rules

How to Apply

FIDM offers, annually, over $40,000 in grants for current high school teachers, counselors, or administrators from public high schools and high schools that are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (“section 501(c)(3)”). Applicants may apply for one grant per semester. The annual semester periods run from August 15 to January 15 (Semester I), and from January 16 to June 30 (Semester II). Multiple applications within the prescribed five-month period will be disregarded for the duration of that period. Incomplete applications will also not be eligible for the duration of that semester period.

*Please note that FIDM Field Trip Grants cannot be used on the dates of the DEBUT Runway Show.

Eligibility

To apply for an Educator Grant from FIDM, you must be a legal resident of the United States, and a current high school educator (teacher, counselor, or administrator) in a public high school, or a private or parochial school that is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3). Anyone located outside the continental United States is ineligible to receive a grant from FIDM. Employees of FIDM and their immediate families (including mother, father, sons, daughters, spouse, brothers, sisters, and immediate household members) are also ineligible to receive a grant from FIDM.

If a grant recipient cannot be confirmed within ten (10) days from the first notification attempt, then such person will be disqualified and an alternate recipient selected.

Grant Availability

The number of grants awarded is determined by the merit of the applications and the funding available at any particular time, and Grantor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend grants without any liability of any kind whatsoever to any applicant or recipient.

Grant Conditions

By submitting an application and providing an electronic signature, applicants agree to be bound by these Grant Rules and Regulations and by the decisions of FIDM and its respective directors, employees, officers, affiliates and agents (hereafter, the “Grantor”).

Applicants may be ineligible to receive a grant, or may have a previously awarded grant revoked, if applicants do not comply with all the applicable terms, conditions, rules, and restrictions imposed both by law and by the Grantor.

If any statement made by the applicant is false or misleading, the applicant will immediately return to FIDM, upon demand, a cash amount equal to the fair market value of the grant awarded.

If awarded a grant from FIDM, the applicant will participate as a private individual and not as an agent or representative of the Grantor. Any funds awarded shall be used exclusively for the purposes outlined in the grant.

Waiver of Liability

The applicant and the applicant’s heirs, administrators and successors (1) release the Grantor from any and all liability, claims or causes of action which may arise out of or in connection with travel to/from and/or participation in the grant program, including but not limited to any activity, travel or otherwise, that is not part of the official program; and (2) agree to indemnify and hold the Grantor harmless from any and all liability, loss, damage, cost or expense of any nature whatsoever (other than costs expressly assumed by the Grantor), including all reasonable attorneys’ fees and court costs, incurred by the Grantor as a result of the applicant’s actions in connection with his/her participation in the grant program.

The Grantor is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, incorrectly addressed, incomplete, illegible or undeliverable applications due to system errors or failures, or faulty transmissions or other telecommunication malfunctions and/or online applications not received, resulting from any hardware or software failures of any kind, or other malfunctions which may limit an applicant’s ability to participate.

The Grantor is not responsible or liable for any damages, injury or losses of any kind arising out of access to, and use of, any Grantor-owned or controlled Internet site, or the downloading from and/or printing of material downloaded from any such sites.

PR / Marketing Release

Without additional compensation, the applicant gives the Grantor permission to use his/her name, voice, likeness and biographical material (including, but in no way limited to, any photograph taken while participating in the program, or provided to the Grantor by the applicant) in connection with the advertising and promotion of its services and products, for both broadcast and non-broadcast purposes in all media, in such manner and at such times as the Grantor, in its sole discretion, may deem appropriate or desirable; provided that such use relates to the applicant’s status as a participant in the grant program. The applicant waives all rights of inspection, and releases the Grantor from any and all liability arising out of any such use of the applicant’s name, voice and likeness, and/or biographical material. The applicant further agrees that the timing of any public announcement and all other publicity relating to the applicant’s participation in the grant program will be subject to the Grantor’s approval and, to that end, the applicant agrees not to discuss with the media, or publicize information relating to, the applicant’s participation in the grant program without the express prior written approval of a duly authorized representative of the Grantor.

Terms Governed by California Law

The terms and conditions of these Rules and Regulations are to be governed by the internal laws of the State of California and the United States of America. The applicant (a) waives all right to trial by jury; (b) consents to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of the State of California and of the United States District Courts of California; and (c) agrees that any process of notice or motion or other application to the court or judge thereof may be served within or without the State of California by registered or certified mail or by personal service, provided that a reasonable time for appearance is allowed.
